"Meghan Chase has a secret destiny- One she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school... or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could have never guessed the truth- that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face... and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart."

Wow. What to say about Julie Kagawa's The Iron King. This book rocked my socks off. Iron King is a mix of all my favorite childhood stories along with a twist on modern day. It is just like Alice in Wonderland, the Labyrinth, Pan's Labyrinth, and the Wizard of Oz. Kagawa created an entirely new world and theory behind the magical, and somehow still manages to make it come alive in your mind like you knew it existed all along.

Julie Kagawa finds a way to turn the problems and advancements of the real world and work it into the mythical. Any author that can do that in a way that leaves you entertained and wanting to search in your closet for mythical worlds deserves some sort of recognition.

The plot of Iron King follows along the movies/stories I mentioned above, and it all blended together perfectly! Iron King had me reading literally minute by minute. I have to leave for work exactly fifteen minutes before I am supposed to be there and I was literally reading until that exact moment. I was reading on my break, I was reading half asleep... You just HAVE to know what happens.

I fell in love with the characters in The Iron King. Meghan is an okay main character, although I didn't really understand the need to make her "hick." But as someone who grew up in Ohio, I could appreciate it whether I understood it or not. The males in The Iron King were what really did it for me. Kagawa perfectly writes the contrasting good and evil male protagonists.

The setting in The Iron King was sensational. I pictured this entire world easily and I loved living there for the past three days.
