Series: Gone, Book One
Page Amount: 558 pages, US paperback
"In the blink of an eye. Everyone disappears. GONE.

Except for the young. Teens. Middle schoolers. Toddlers. But not one single adult. No teachers, no cops, no doctors, no parents. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened.

Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day.

It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out."

REVIEW:
This is a book that everyone has been telling me that I need to read for some time now. For some reason, it has taken me forever to pick this book up. I wish I wouldn't have waited because this book was extremely good. And it is good in a different way than a lot of YA books have been.

There was something about this book that was different than most YA books out there. Maybe it is because of the younger age of the main characters (all are under 15) or maybe it is because the main focus is the plot instead of a building romance. Which normally, I can't stand books if there isn't a dramatic romantic underline but this one had enough plot and mystery to make up for the small amount of romance.

There is so much going on in this book that you can't help but constantly think about what is going on. The book switches perspectives to several different people and you fall in love and hate with so many different people. You jump into these young adults world where suddenly they are responsible for everything including cooking, taking care of the children and babies and health. Kids who had relied on adults for everything now have to learn everything in a moment or they will perish. And the drama is so enticing as a reader. I was constantly thinking about things that I would do if I was stuck in the FAYZ.

The thing I really didn't like was some stuff at the end. You get a conclusion and all of that, but not enough of one. I would have liked to see a little more hope and finalization or even more "oh crap, what are we going to do?" but I felt like the ending was a little incomplete. I don't want to say anymore because I don't want to spoil, but when you read it I think you'll know what I mean.

This world is crazy and has so much depth and I cannot wait to read the sequel, Hunger. If you haven't picked this book series up, what are you waiting for? Remember, it only takes a moment for everything to change.

  4. This book was so awesome. I first read it as a free read on the Harper/Teen site when book 2 was being released. I enjoyed it so much that I purchased book 2 and book 1(even though I'd just read it)as I knew I'd want to read it again.
